“Well, my boy, sometimes when you ask for the rest, you are lucky enough to get the best. However, the Enchanters of Lwiqsyz are a testy and judgmental lot, and I fear they would tear you limb from limb figuratively if not literally. Ah, you, Witch Queen, you are a powerful sorceress with regal bearing! A to Z Challenge 2019: Dale Dicking

Dale Dicking is a hard-boiled forty-something senior agent working for the government's top-secret Alien and Supernatural Search Squadron, or A.S.S.S.
Until he met the dirty denizens of Climax Castle, Dicking was convinced that aliens were the product of rural dwellers drinking too much moonshine, vampires were creatures concocted by the unhappy minds of lonely goths, and elementals were naught but fairy tales. Dale has had quite the education since that initial visit.
Dale and his partner, Marc Cumming, are polar opposites with Dale being a hardened cynic and Marc remaining open-minded and filled with wonder at every new possibility. Although they may lock horns at times, their friendship is as solid can be, and each would take a bullet for the other.

"I’m lucky to have you as a partner. You’re diplomatic, and you’ve never lost your sense of wonder. I’m cynical, pissed off, and my answer to everything is pretty much kick its ass first and ask questions later.” --Dale Dicking
