#MFRWAuthor Update from the Naughty Netherworld

Hello Naughties. Earlier this month I made big promises about giving away entire ARCs for the first and second books in the Tales from the Dreamlands series. For those who were really looking forward to receiving these ARCs, I will make them available sometime this year, but I have decided not to give them away with the newsletter just now.

I am working on setting up my Book Funnel account. Hopefully, I can do so this month. I have three major author presences, and Book Funnel allows me to promote all three with their highest tier subscription. With Story Origin, I would have to create three separate accounts. Ay-yi-yi, what a pain in the posterior!

I still have to switch my subscriber list from Tiny Letter to Mailer Lite. I haven't done so yet because I (Lil DeVille, that is) have been busy working on my first draft for The Shape of Heat, an erotic novella featuring three twenty-something workers at the scandalous Pearl Beach Resort, located on the fictitious Fire Isle in the Caribbean. The good news is, I have been having a lot of fun writing this story.

The retooled newsletter will feature plenty of good stuff, including links to ARCs once I get them set up. I've read different things regarding what should be included in a newsletter. The fellow who runs Story Origin suggests that authors should offer an exclusive 10,000 word novella, saying that 10,000 words is neither too short or too long.

Personally, I like to make my novellas available to the public, so I don't think this is the right path for me. Some authors offer a chapter from one of their books. I think this is more my speed. I might also offer goodies such as a compendium of characters.

Another thing I will be offering going forward is a $5 Amazon gift card for a lucky recipient every month. I use Random.org to choose the winner. $5 isn't a lot, but it's what I can afford at this time.

I realized that I had once again bitten off more than I could chew when the time to post my link to Book Hooks rolled around and I said "screw it, I just can't." However, this realization was free of the guilt that usually accompanies such an epiphany--proof that sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks.

I am currently reading a book called Hiding Behind a Window by an author using the pseudonym Laura Chill.

I really recommend this book to anyone who, like me, may be dealing with the repercussions of their own past trauma, or simply for anyone who enjoys learning about what other people have been through. If you purchase a copy of the book through the above link, I will earn a small commission from Amazon.

That's all for now. I hope that nobody is terribly disappointed that receipt of the promised ARC is being put off. I hope to have everyone from the Tiny Letter list switched over to the Mailer Lite list within the month. I will announce the winner of the $5 gift card in the August 1 newsletter.

Rating: Adults Only

Heat Rating: Nuclear Blast (5 flames)

Romance Rating: Erotic Romance, ménage à trois, bisexual romance

Pairings: M/M, F/F/M, M/M/M, mixed group

Candi knew hot things went on behind closed doors at the Pearl Beach Resort. After all, the place was owned by bisexual billionaire playboy Boris van Donk. Boris had a reputation for taking on all comers. Candi's family of origin was strictly religious, and she has never given or received more than a chaste kiss in her 21 years of life. Between bad-boy Boris and her geeky, fun-loving, porn-writing housemates, an awakening of her desires is inevitable.

Snippet

Two women and a man, all in their early twenties, sat in a remote spot on the sands of Pearl Beach Resort. The resort was located on Fire Isle, a small body of land in the Caribbean sea, approximately 45 miles west of St. Lucia.

Twenty-one-year-old Candida Peters, known to her friends as Candi, was the baby of the trio. She was a sweet-faced young Caucasian woman with shoulder-length, cinnamon-colored hair and warm hazel eyes. Just five feet two inches tall, Candi lamented the seeming imbalance between her modest bust, curvy hips, and thick thighs. No matter how much she dieted and exercised, her lower half never became svelte enough for her liking.

Note
There isn't room for explanation in this snippet, but I want to clarify that I see no fault in a body shaped like Candi's. Her insecurities echo those I had at her age. I developed an eating disorder at twelve which I still struggle with at almost 60 years old. All bodies are good bodies and I find it outrageous the way diet culture and advertising promote disordered eating.

None yet. This story is a WIP. I am creating it for submission to the Naughty November prompt from Cobblestone Press. If they don't want it, I'll publish it myself. This is a story with lots of potential subplots.

Submissions between 10,000 and 40,000 words are due by August 1.

They are looking for erotic romance or erotica, Ménage or BDSM.

They have several submission categories and accept manuscripts year-round.

That's about it for now! Happy naughty writing!

Love, Lil

“An altar in the Hall of Nyarlathotep—but of course! Who would not be quite curious to follow a portal in a blasted Hall of Nyarlathotep Worship?”

“I think that this portal may lead back to your world via the Dreamlands, Ketil,” the creature revealed. “From my understanding of the sigils surrounding the gate, this passage terminates in Xura. I have never been to Xura, but I have heard rumors of a most interesting house which is said to be a focal point in this realm.”

“Oh, but of course. The House of Great Fuckery,” the man expounded. “And who in their right mind would not wish to go through the House of Great Fuckery?”

But as a reminder, I am giving away the ARC for this book. Just do what I say, and nobody will get hurt!

If you sign up for the Naughty Netherworld Newsletter by July 15, you will receive one whole and complete ARC of this book.

If you're already a subscriber, you don't need to do anything else. Hopefully, everything will proceed without a hitch. I am switching from Tiny Letter to Mailer Lite.

There is just one thing I want to know.

How does Grammarly think that "TinyLetter" looks a damn thing like "Donald?" There are only two letters in common.

I'm working to set up my Story Origin and Book Funnel accounts. I keep hearing conflicting information from people about the effectiveness of newsletters. Some say they have several solar systems worth of subscribers and newsletters are the best thing since sliced bread. Others say newsletters don't do much for them. Personally, I've found them to be a bust, but I'm going to try to give it a fair shake.

Maybe Donald Duck will subscribe to my newsletter. He's a smart guy who knows a good story when he reads one.

I've always wished I had the money to hire someone to handle my social media accounts and promotions. If I did, you'd all probably think this was me, the young, artsy, mysterious, hip Lady Writer.

The Fascinating Fantasy

I've never been any good at pretending to be something I'm not, though. The reality is much closer to this:

Anyway, sign up for my newsletter. It's a work in progress.

I'm really glad my writing is better than my promotional abilities, though. I flat-out suck at promotion, no lie.

This buddy story is the first in a series of New Cthulhu Mythos cliffhangers.

Snippet:

Obscured by a poisonous haze on a world which had died when Earth was new, a tall, diaphanous male humanoid with long flaxen hair stood beside an alien being which towered over him despite his own impressive height. The creature had a conical body with a three-eyed head on a stalk. The spirit expressed concern for his companion’s well-being in the planet’s toxic atmosphere.

“Yitzy, I suggest that we leave this unwholesome world,” the youthful man insisted. “Although you are evidently a fearless and adaptable sort of creature whose zeal for the sciences is either commendable or insane, surely even an enormous and rubbery snail-footed monstrosity such as yourself will wind up dead if you breathe the chemical soup of this damned hellhole for long enough. I cannot put too fine a point on it. I demand that we make our exit forthwith.”

“Very good, Ketil, I concur with your assessment, although I could easily remain in this place and suffer no ill effects,” the creature replied telepathically. “You see, I have no lungs as the living among your kind do; my form adapts to whatever gases are present in the atmosphere. However, I am curious to follow a portal that I have discovered under the altar in the Hall of Nyarlathotep.”

However...

Hold onto your hats...

And your seats...

And your socks...

Because I've got an offer that no lover of weird fiction with that special snarky bite of horseradish delivered by a sharp-tongued Swedish spectre could possibly refuse.

If you sign up for the Naughty Netherworld Newsletter by July 15, you will receive one whole and complete ARC of this book.

https://bit.ly/NaughtyNetherworldNews2

If you're already a subscriber, you don't need to do anything else. Your ARC will arrive in a tidy Tiny Letter on July 15th. You can spread the word if you'd like to help a deranged scribe gain a few readers should you wish to earn some extra Angel Author Karma Points. Keep in mind that I'm not responsible for dispensing Karma Points. If yours are not delivered in a timely fashion, you will have to take it up with St. Peter.

But wait, I'm not done yet.

Coming in August, subscribers will be treated to an ARC of the forthcoming second book in the Tales from the Dreamlands series.

What's the catch?

There isn't one. I'd love it if you'd leave an honest 3-star or better review for the books on Amazon, but you're under no obligation to do so. I'm not going to check to see if you did your homework. The ARCs are yours to keep either way, but you can't get 'em unless you subscribe!

Before I wrap things up, here's a little tip for leaving reviews of books you haven't purchased on Amazon.

Begin your review with this sentence.

"I received an advance review copy of this book."

This should keep your review from being removed.

Many thanks!
