“Any scraps of meat as have been
allowed to cure for a spell will do us right as rain, Yer Revered Snakeness,”
the small ghoul interjected. “Robin Roberts at yer service. D’yer know, I once
saw a mighty anaconda, or maybe it was a boa constrictor, brought Hammer and
Tack from the chuffin' wild jungles of darkest Africa ter the bleedin' London
Zoo. Watched it wrap itself 'round a rat, I did. The lydy standin' beside me

“Wot me old China Plate is
tryin' ter say, your majesty, is that whatever victuals ya 'ave available will
be jolly Robin Hood,” the large ghoul explained, doffing his newsboy cap, and
bowing low. “Howsomever, we do enjoy our meat Mae West when it's been left ter

While Lovell massaged my hands and forearms, I felt
like I'd slipped into another world. The cab of the truck faded, and he and I
were alone, surrounded by mist. I felt his lips brushing mine as he leaned in.
I parted my lips and our tongues danced slowly around each other. My cock was
throbbing, and I wanted him to take me, to make me his, to do whatever he
would.
I returned to reality when Lovell’s fingertips
caressed my cheek.
“We’re here,” he said.
I was in a daze as Lovell helped me out of the
truck. The exuberant Forest broke the spell, pulling me into a spine-cracking
bear hug.
“It was so good to meet both of you, Man,” he said.

“Your Majesty, we come in
peace,” the Yithian explained telepathically. “We would be indebted to you if
we might implore your aid in our quest.”
“Yes, Yithian, I see no reason
why not,” Rokon agreed. “I invite you to dine with me. Tell me, what sort of
food would you desire?”
“I obtain energy from minerals
and plant matter. My friend Ketil will eat or not as it suits him. My
companions Robin Roberts and Little John Tamboli relish decaying meat,
particularly human flesh, although we acknowledge that you may not have such
readily available.”

"This gaff is bloody creepy enough,"
Detective Sergeant Isidoros Cam muttered as he strode through the front door of
Warszawski Taxidermy. With his battered fedora and rumpled trenchcoat, the
basset-faced DS looked like a cross between Columbo and Dick Tracy.
"Looks like the place has been abandoned for decades,"
twenty-four-year-old Detective Constable Breandán Gracia Zelenka noted.
"Not quite, Fresh Meat," Auer countered with a
knowing grin. "The truck is a newer model, not more than five years old. I'll
bet you five quid that there's current mail, though the occupant may not have
opened it for a spell."
Lieutenant Theresa Landvik, a seasoned American ex-pat who
had been with the Crouch End division of Scotland Yard for 34 years, was a small,
wiry woman in her early sixties who looked like she might blow away in a strong
wind, but her co-workers knew that she was far tougher than she appeared. She
turned her piercing violet-blue gaze on her subordinates.

Dad was none other than Joe Schola Junior, an ultra-conservative religious icon. Every Sunday morning, thousands of viewers tuned in to the Joe Schola Show on television or the Joe Schola Hour on Christian radio stations to hear Fox News-approved rhetoric about homosexuality ushering in the Apocalypse and free-thinking females destroying the family. The same terrible talking points were used by televangelists long before I was born. That such hateful rhetoric always has an audience dismayed me. My father and I disagreed on nearly everything, but I never spoke out except to occasionally tell him to dial back the fire and brimstone. I said people would either be turned off by always being told they're going to hell or scared to hear what he had to say.

The Yithian was accompanied by a
diaphanous human male in early adulthood with long, light blond hair and a
pallor striking even for a ghost. Beside this phantom strode two monstrous
humanoids with rubbery gray-green skin and vaguely canine features. One was a
small, wiry fellow with large, yellow-gray eyes. The other was a burly chap who
radiated a quiet intensity.
The four odd fellows bowed
before the serpent king, who descended from his throne and bowed to them. He
was a majestic sight, standing just over three meters in height. The
diamond-shaped pupils of his golden eyes dilated and contracted, and his forked
tongue flicked the air as he surveyed his visitors. He opened his mouth,
revealing great curved fangs.
“Blimey, I’d not like to be the
recipient of his wrath,” the portly ghoul whispered to his companion. “Skewer a
bloke like a kabob on them choppers, he could.”

The sun was rising on Christmas morning as a team of plain-clothes detectives approached a dilapidated farmhouse located on the outskirts of London. A well-maintained truck sat off to the side. There was a light layer of snow on the ground, and there were footprints belonging to two women, two men, and one large dog.
"This is certainly peculiar," thirty-year-old Detective Constable Tatsuya Auer noted. "The footprints indicate that one bloke and two ladies went in. A different bloke and the same two ladies came out with a big dog. We've no evidence that any other vehicle has been here besides that truck. The footprints leading away from the property disappear beyond the truck. Old Kris Kringle left us a spiffing little Christmas puzzle, innit?"
