The Frustrations of Publishing on Kindle's E-Reader Platform

I know, Betty. Me too.

Kindle is a wonderful way to get your book out there to the public. It is far less costly than traditional POD publishing. I spent literally thousands of dollars publishing a previous work with Outskirts press and by no means did I ever recoup the investment. It was heartbreaking, and it prevented me from even writing again for a long time.
Although I am now writing again, I am also focusing on making the projects of Team Netherworld as a whole publication-ready. Most recently, I have been helping edit and format Lil DeVille's "Carnal Invasion" series for Naughty Netherworld Publications.
The Kindle Publisher is a helpful tool. It is not an infallible tool. I had a lot of frustration with it while formatting Lil's most recent book for publication.
My main frustration was an inability to get the damn thing to create a working table of contents.
I gave up and published the initial version with a non-working table of contents. It is a short book, as is in keeping for much of Kindle Erotica, so this wasn't a big problem.
Then there was the problem with getting the cover to publish. The cover creator is a wonderfully simple tool. By the way, I find free-use images over on Pixabay. It's still the right thing to do to credit the image's creator, but many of the images don't require this. In any case, I had my image, and the cover creator presented its options, and I chose one. Simple enough, but it didn't take.
I've fixed the problem with the cover. Now I have to go in and re-upload the text part of the book, which should now have a working table of contents.
Gaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!
It's supposed to be simple. Sometimes it is.
Even when it's not, this is the work that I love. I hope that one day I'll be able to be paid for it.
Onward.

I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I have ADHD and anxiety and sometimes I need to work myself up to be able to respond to comments. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops. I share your work on the monthly Roost Recommendations posts at ornerybookemporium.blogspot.com so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
Sorry, the Captcha is back and this time it's staying. I was inundated with spam comments when I turned it off. I wish butt rash on all the spammers out there.
