Ketil's Fate #WeWriWa #SnipSun #8Sunday

The Blurb
The fate of the Cosmos rests in the hands of an unlikely team of unusual friends. Will an exiled member of an ancient extraterrestrial race, a human ghost, and two ghouls be able to outfox an ancient evil and beat Nyarlathotep at his game before time runs out? This buddy story is the first in a series of New Cthulhu Mythos cliffhangers.

The Notes
Last time, Ketil encouraged Little John to establish a bakery in Dylath Leen.

The Snippet

The next portrait depicted an image familiar to Ketil. The morose Lord Morbid had ended his life in a strikingly innovative and horrific fashion. The portrait was a stylized version of a medical examiner’s photo which had been stolen and passed around following the sensational suicide.

The moment was re-enacted in the minds of the painting’s viewers. The tall, gaunt will-o-the-wisp carved an elder sign into his chest and slashed the blood vessels in his arms. He painted an inverted pentagram with strange sigils at each of the points on the stone floor of the chamber using his own blood. A terrible mania had overtaken the disturbed young man, allowing him to complete his gruesome task despite losing enough blood that he should have fainted long since.

  1. Lord MOrbid truly lives up to his name. I wonder what drove him to such a gruesome end, and how much this will affect your team of unusual friends.

  2. Oh my. Lord Morbid was a determined soul wasn't he? Sadly I fear that similar issues are still stolen and passed around.

  3. That does not sound like a good way to go.

  4. Not my cup of tea, no offense, BUT the description was vivid and well done. Very much in the style of this story as I understand it so far.

  5. Just the kind of portrait I'd love to have hanging in the dining room! Such gruesome fun!

I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I have ADHD and anxiety and sometimes I need to work myself up to be able to respond to comments. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops. I share your work on the monthly Roost Recommendations posts at ornerybookemporium.blogspot.com so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
Sorry, the Captcha is back and this time it's staying. I was inundated with spam comments when I turned it off. I wish butt rash on all the spammers out there.
