It was into this scene that three peculiar travelers fell from an ovoid of light the color of key lime pie filling. Despite the bumpy landing, the first of the trio seemed unperturbed. This sturdy, mature gentleman quickly righted himself, doing a jaunty jig in the air, his silver and gold curls bouncing as he moved. A beam of moonlight passed through him, revealing his ethereal nature. The spectre hastened to assist his companions.

“Rilpu, are you all right, Lass?” he inquired of a willowy young humanoid woman in her late adolescent years. As she rose from the ground, she brushed her cherry-red hair away from her face, securing it with a brown scrunchie taken from the red bag slung across her body. Her golden eyes were reminiscent of those of a snake, and her smile revealed pointed fangs.

“I am well, Captain Sammy,” she replied. “It was quite a wild ride through that last gate, though. I hope we might find a different way to exit."

About the Author:

C. L. Hart, the owner and sole employee of Naughty Netherworld Press, is spoken of in hushed tones. She is described as The Mad Scribe of the Northeastern Colorado Plains, The Terrible Old Woman, and The Author That Should Not Be.

Dear Shep,

It shouldn’t be too hard to forget about that baffling dream when there’s so much going on this month. Father Taras Koszorús roped the football team into helping with his Fourth of July Project. He really didn’t have to twist our arms. What kind of heartless Scrooge wouldn’t want to support a charity helping Arizona’s foster care programs find permanent homes for kids?

I may have molded myself into an archetypal hunk with the help of Dad’s money, but I always get tears in my eyes when Father Taras tells his story about being adopted by the American G.I. who rescued him during the Western Allied Invasion of Germany. I hope we can make this a great celebration for the kids. There’s going to be a big cookout with music and games followed by fireworks. I’m so proud to be part of it.

Intan confirmed the presence of an adolescent girl with long blonde hair clad in old-fashioned clothes. Mostly the young woman spoke in a dreamy voice about a swarthy, elflike young man who was ever so pretty despite his sharp canine teeth and so kind despite his burning red eyes and the fact that he drank a little of her blood. As she touched the puncture wounds on her neck, she reassured the police that the sweet lad who looked like a Bollywood prince hadn't harmed her and was coming back for her because they were in love. 

When asked what happened to Pastor and Mrs. Hooker, Intan murmured that the object of her affections and his sweet little sister had tried to stop their father and brother, but the patriarch and eldest son latched onto the throats of their victims, gorging on their blood until they turned white. 

Deborah came by Valentins's house the night the family departed, promising that she'd return someday. 

"You're the bee's knees, Val," she declared, embracing him. 

Like everyone else in Laney, Valentins believed that Dino Virgo and his eldest son, Otto, were psychopaths, while Deb and her brother Nasim were innocent but brainwashed to believe that they were vampires. 

Valentins quickly tired of intimations made by his fellow students and even a handful of teachers at Liberty Academy that he and Deborah had been a couple. Deborah was undeniably beautiful, but she wasn't Valentins's girlfriend. She was his best friend and the best thing to ever happen to Laney, Massachusetts., and when she left the world lost its color.

“Isn’t that what gay dudes do to clear the pipeline before doing, you know, butt stuff?” Big Bob Cracchiolo asked.

“Bob, let me ask you something,” Stan said. “Have you ever found yourself clenching your butt cheeks because you don’t want to offend your date with a loud, foul fart?”

Bob blushed as the rest of us howled.

“I wish he’d clench his cheeks instead of filling our living quarters with the toxic funk from his tailpipe,” Bob’s roommate Birgir Prabhakar chortled.

“Why would I care if I offended any of you buffoons?” Bob asked.

“Granted, you probably don’t care about releasing a hearty blast in front of the guys,” Stan continued. “But it sucks to be sitting in class trying not to pass gas, doesn’t it? What Lidia is saying is detoxifying your digestive system helps prevent embarrassment. Many people report that having a weekly therapeutic enema helps with energy and performance levels as well as an overall sense of well-being. It isn’t only gay men who can benefit from the practice.”
